Giving to those in need

The church we attend, Riverbluff, runs and supports many wonderful ministries, one being Midland Park Ministries.

Since Napp and I live so far from family, our kids have been blessed immeasurably with toys, clothing etc. Yesterday, I talked with Xylie about giving some of her toys to kids who don't have any. At first she said no, but when she saw a picture on the computer of children rummaging through trash to find food and toys, she was moved to tears and action. She headed into her room and we made piles. She had 12 dress up crowns. I'd hold up 2 at a time and she decided which to keep, and which to give away. And often, she parted with. She really did an outstanding job. I'm very proud of her and she feels so good to have shared with others. Of course...I also got a good Xylie story out of it. So take a look when you get a chance.

That's wonderful to teach Xylie at such a young age the beauty of sharing with others. I am trying to teach Katie and Hannah the same and telling them that many, many children do not have nearly as many possessions as they do. Teaching kids to be grateful when they have so much stuff is a difficult task as well.
