It's my birthday and I'll blog if I want to...

Me at age 3 wearing my favorite green dress.

(Zayden wanted to be the first to wish me a happy birthday! He woke up just 4 minutes past midnight (pesky teeth)--so I decided to work on this post while feeding him)

The weather today in the Charleston area is expected to be balmy compared the freezing temperatures that visited Central Pennsylvania on my first birthday 34-years-ago today. Since today is my birthday I decided to list 34 random facts about my 34 years on this earth. Man, that is a long list...but I'll try to keep the items short.

  1. My mom wanted to name me Angie after the Rolling Stones song. My dad wanted me named Angela, so they named me Angela and called me "Angie."
  2. My middle name is Marie
  3. I weighed 7 lbs 11 1/2 oz at birth
  4. I measured 21 inches long
  5. I was born with a head full of dark hair that later fell out and grew back blond (Zayden anyone?)
  6. My parents divorced when I was two
  7. I first accepted Jesus into my heart as a little girl (about 4 yrs) while praying with my mom's mother who I called MamMam (pronounced memmem).
  8. I took ballet lessons when I was 4
  9. My mom remarried when I was 4 and my stepfather became my dad when he adopted me when I was 7 - my sister Maranda and JeanAnn were born in 1978 and 1983 respectively.
  10. I re-met my birth father when I was 15 along with my stepmother Gayle, brother Nik and sister Crystal.
  11. My favorite subjects in high school were English and Social Studies (History)
  12. My least Favorite subjects : Math (all of kinds) and Chemistry
  13. My favorite teacher of all-time was English teacher Mrs. Schleagal
  14. I was an active youth group member in a Missouri Synod Lutheran Church
  15. I attended Houghton College and graduated with a BA in Communication
  16. Two weeks after graduation I moved to Orlando Florida (with two suitcases and $500)
  17. I found my first salaried job and an apartment within three weeks --neither were good fits for me,but I hung in there and things turned around
  18. I met Napp in 1998 at a Presbyterian church
  19. My relationship with Napp blossomed from friendship into romance when we started swing dancing
  20. When Napp and I were dating I surprised him during the Halloween season by showing up at his apartment wearing a cheer leading costume and carrying a homemade chocolate cake.
  21. Before I met Napp, my friend Tammy asked me what type of profession would I like my future husband have. I told her that I could really see myself as a professor's wife, but I didn't think that would happen because almost all the guys I met in Orlando were engineers. When Napp and I started dating, I had forgotten about that conversation until I told Tammy about Napp...she exclaimed "Angela, this is your professor!"
  22. My official maiden name on my wedding day was Angela Marie Fulkroad
  23. I once interned for a small radio station in Millersburg PA. I was on the radio a few times, but mostly rode in an old "Beetle" called the "Love Bug" during numerous small town parades and handed out candy to children.
  24. My favorite professional job was Communications Specialist for the American Public Power Association in Washington, DC
  25. When single, my goal was to be a mother by the time I turned 30. Xylie was born 15 days after my 30th birthday. I think that was God's way of reminding me that He is in control.
  26. After Xylie was born pink became my favorite color and remains so today.
  27. I have no idea what my home decorating style is, but I know I like a mix of neutral and rich colors (like beige, pale slate blue, chocolate brown, and cranberry).
  28. I've come to terms with the fact that I'm complicated--who isn't?
  29. I have a nervous habit of cracking my joints (fingers, toes, elbows, neck)
  30. My favorite foods are chocolate, bacon, and cheese ( I know, horribly unhealthy, but I don't eat them everyday)
  31. I was always considered shy...not so sure many would call me shy now
  32. My arms are "double jointed"
  33. love, love, love when people read and comment on my blog posts
  34. I tell the longest stories ever and when I say I'm going to keep things short...well as you can tell from this post, I don't...but I do try...I'm just so darn detail-oriented.

Happy Birthday, Angela! (Does that make me person #2?) Praying this is your best year yet!

I enjoyed reading your post. I didn't know all of that about you, but I did know about the math and that you are indeed very, very complicated. ;)

Happy birthday, my friend!

Happy birthday, my friend!

P.S. -- You do realize that 34 is not quite 100? :)

Happy Birthday Angela!! Have you ever eaten a chocolate milkshake and bacon at the same time? Upon ordering that in a restaurant Ted announced to the waitress that I was eating for two. Not being married and not doing anything to cause that to happen I was extremely embarrassed. I do find it funny now. That was one of my favorite snacks at Kings.

Thank you!

To answer Karen's question, (great story by the way)I've never ordered a chocolate milkshake and a plate of bacon, but in my college days I have ordered a chocolate milkshake and a bacon-cheeseburger.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ANGELA! I bet the cheerleading uniform is what won Napp over forever. lol :)
We should get together for some bacon soon. I LOVE IT!
Oh and if you and I are ever the only people trapped on an island, we won't be able to rely on mathematics or chemistry to find a way off. :)
I hope 34 is the best year yet!

Happy Birthday, Ang!!!
We wish we could be there to celebrate it with you--we wish you a wonderful day and a fantastic 2008. I loved seeing the old pictures of you--I had to laugh because I don't think Xylie the ballerina would ever have worn that green dress!!! How times have changed! Have a great birthday--we love you!!
