Since I started this blog in late September, a few people have asked me how I find the time to write so much. Here are some of my "secrets."
- I carve out some time every so often to write ahead. These are the posts that are usually very short or contain quizzes. I'll spend about 30 min or so once a month taking a few quizzes and looking for cute blog ideas. Then I save them as drafts and post them when I am too busy to write or just don't have anything to write about. I like to keep my blog relatively fresh because I know that people will eventually stop visiting and forget about it if I wait too long to post.
- I'm a fast writer. That's not always true. When it comes to writing an article for a magazine, etc. I spend hours researching, writing, rewriting, editing, and rewriting some more. However, if I held that principle with my blog I would have never started it. My blog posts are usually written quickly...some of them I hope to turn into book chapters at a later time.
- Writing is important to me. Since I had children, I stopped writing as often as I use to and I started to feel as if a part of me was missing. Only recently I discovered that writing is not just something that I do relatively well, it is something that is a part of my make up...it's honestly therapeutic. To me, blogging is a great way to spend some of my me-time. Some people run, some people scrapbook, I write. I'm finally figuring out that it is not selfish of me to want to spend some time doing something I truly love to do.
On another note, I've hinted and not so subtly in the past that I love it when people comment on my posts. However, many of my readers wrote me to let me know that they have tried to post comments and it wouldn't work. If you'd like to post a comment and cannot, you can always e-mail it to me and I can post it for you.
