Love Affair with Books

Although I don't have much time to devote to personal leisure, I love curling up with a good book, so does my daughter. Here are some books that Xylie likes to look at and have read to her daily.

The Monster at the End of This Book
- Napp and I both remember
this book as a childhood favorite.
Xylie borrowed it from the library
this week and loves it too.
We read it at least twice a day
and I think she is going to have
a hard time returning it.

The Color of Us, Karen Katz -
This delightful and artistic
book is also from the library.
This is beautiful and light hearted
book about a little girl, Lena, who
is going to paint a self portrait.
Her mother suggests that she
use several colors to create the
appropriate shade of brown for
her skin tone. Lena replies that
brown is brown. But after she and her mother take a
walk around their NYC neighborhood Lena learns that
brown comes in many different colors. The Color of Us
celebrates differences and likenesses that unite people.

My Child, My Princess:
A Parable About the King -Beth Moore
I love this book and so does Xylie.
We bought it for her birthday this year.
It is a sweet story about a princess
who disobeys her father
and runs away for the day.
It's tender and tugs
at a mommy's heart strings.

A Girl After God's Own Heart
- Elizabeth George

This is a darling poetry book
written about the fruits of the spirit.
Xylie got it for Christmas. It would
make the perfect birthday gift
for any little girl.

Pinkalicious - Victoria Kann

Xylie received this fun read as
one of her birthday presents
from Nannie. It's a cute story about
a color- pink-loving little girl who
downs too many pink cupcakes
and as a consequence turns pink.

Dance at Grandpa's -My First Little House Series

The Little House books
tell the story young Laura Ingalls
and her family...a great
way to introduce kids to the series.
