The scene:
Early in the morning. Mommy and Daddy are in bed. Children are quiet. Pumpkindoodle comes into our room with a cranky attitude.
PD: "Mommy, I need a boo-boo pad, I have scratches."
Me: "Good morning. Is your Eczema bothering you? Let me get your lotion."
PD: "Nooooo. I don't want lotion." Runs to hide.
At this point, I get up, brushed my teeth, and go into Z-man's room. He's standing up with a huge smile on his face, arms stretched out. I pick him up and he nestles his head in the crock of my neck and pats my shoulder with his little hands. I begin to sing the good morning song that I usually use to greet both of my children.
"Good morning, Good morning, Good morning to you. Good morning, Good morning and how do you do? It's so good to see, your smiling face, and hug you and kiss you all over the place."
He responds by laughing and giving me slobbery kisses. I hug him tight. Pumpkindoodle reemerges. This time with a pouty scowl.
PD: "Mommy, you love Zayden more than you love me."
Me: "Oh, sweetie, what makes you say that?"
PD: "Because you hug him more in the morning."
I then put Zayden in his high chair, give him a sipper cup of milk and some cheerios.
Me: "Pumpkindoodle, mommy loves you and Zayden the same amount. Zayden just likes to cuddle more in the morning so I cuddle with him. What can Mommy do in the morning to make you feel loved?"
PD: "More hugs."
Me: "How about a big one now?"
PD: "Sure."
Me: "You know, it would be easier to hug you in the morning if you didn't hide from me."
PD: "How about we save the lotion for after Breksfists? I think that would help me not hide."

Next morning.
PD: Awwwahhhhh! I got pee pee on my panties!
Me: "Let's get you some new panties and get dressed. It's chilly out this morning, so we need to pick out some pants."
PD: "I don't wear pants, remember?"
Me: "This morning is a pants day."
PD: incomprehensible mumbling, whining, rolling on floor, gnashing of teeth, etc.
Me: "Whenever you are dressed, please come out and join us for breakfast."
About 20 minutes later, a dressed Pumpkindoodle appears.
PD: "Mommy, look at this crazy hair of mine. No wonder I'm in a mean mood this morning. I can't think nice with hair like this."
Me: Stifling a laugh, "Here, I'll brush it for you."
PD: "Noooooo!" And she runs away to hide.
Heaven help me. Raising a drama queen is not easy!

Oh that's so funny!!! Of course I totally recognize it's funnier reading it in my quiet house while my kids are at school than when I experience similar things!!
The joy of mother-daughter relationships!!
TOO Cute! I do like her reasoning that the bed head is causing her to have a mean morning...I feel her pain :) And yours!
Gee and to think these are the "easier years" for little girls. Gracious me....boys sure are different than girls!!
How do our hubbies stand us??? Oh yeah, I remember now, we aren't like that!!! LOL
Oh my goodness! I am so glad I came over here! I had gone by your other blog and saw that you have this family one. I am laughing! I have 3 drama queens! I just love the comment about how her hair is to blame for her mood. TOO cute!
From one house of drama to yours, may you be blessed greatly today!
Kimberly :)
SOOOO FUNNY!! She sound exactly like one of my girls. And, I sing a similar good morning song!
That is so funny! I guess I will be calling you when Hannah can talk that much. We had a huge fight this morning about what to wear to pick strawberries!
