As a mom new to homeschooling, here are nine things I like best about teaching my children from home. Some items are conceptual and others based from my limited experience.
Remember, this meme is for you. Are there nine things...nine anythings you'd like to share? If so, put them on your blog and link it below.
- Programs can be tailored to the individual learning styles of each child
- In addition to the basic subjects, kids can pick subjects that most interest them...last night I met a mom whose 16 yr old son is studying New Testament Greek and Brazilian Portuguese.
- The abundance of support programs and materials available that make the first two items on this list possible. Here is an example of an amazing home school blog.
- We don't have to wake up at 5:45 a.m. to get anyone on a bus or at a school by 7:00 a.m.
- Flexibility --if something is not working we have the ability to change it
- Knowing that my job is to "grow adults" not just teach facts, with that comes the freedom of teaching life skills throughout the day.
- Field trips and hands on learning experiences.
- Being able to see my daughter light up as she comprehends a new concept or masters a challenge.
- Opportunities for my kids to learn together and even from each other
OK, I'm now ready to check out your 9 on the 9th!

Good list. I don't feel the Lord calling me to homeschooling currently (actually I am fighting a pull towards going back to teaching high schoolers when H starts school which WAY scares me), but I certainly see the major benefits in it!
Thanks so much for linking to us! You have such a cute blog. We are currently compiling a "Moms Who Homeschool" bloglist for our sidebar. You will definitely be on it.
I agree with your list and thanks for linking us! I clicked on the link and went, "Hey! That's us!!!" Totally cool!
Oh and as Monkey's Momma said, we're compiling a blog list of other homeschoolers. If you have a list of homeschool blogs you want to submit just email it to me at njeosys@juno.com.
Great list and kudos to you for homeschooling. I couldn't do it although in some ways I wish I could. Teaching in that manner is not my gift. You are going to do awesome, I know it - I'm sure it is one of your gifts. Have fun with it and good luck.
my list is up. I can't believe it's been a month already.
I see that our children are roughly the same ages. What do you do with your son during homeschool time? Mine is turning 3 and feeling very left out.
Hello friend! If you think about it please say some prayers for all of us in Corpus. It appears Ike may be headed our way. Hope all is well there.
Take care,
Julie
Just catching up on your blog.
I am loving homeschooling this year too! We had homeschooled Bry for pre-school and the first semester of 1st grade. Those years weren't nearly as rewarding as this year has been so far! We are using the Sonlight curriculum whic I LOVE. It is the perfect fit for our family.
Anyway, I'm so glad to see you doing this too. So exciting! I completely agree with you about how we're raising individuals, not just teaching them facts. What a priviledge it is to teach our own children! Words can't explain the benefits and blessings. I'm with you.
Jaime
