Getting Primed for the Primaries

Being married to a Napp, a political scientist who thrives during election years and the year proceeding, I try to stay on top of political issues. However, I do not possess a wealth of knowledge about all or even many things political. If you get me in a crowd, I could probably hold my own, but I wouldn't impress.

However, my association with the aforementioned political guru does inspire me to research the 2008 presidential candidates. I've done my homework and have decided that at this point I am most impressed by Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee. His social, fiscal, environmental, and life sanctity views align closely with mine. I also like that he is a former minister who was a very successful governor. He's a straight talker, smart as a whip, and has an affable style. I've attached a link about him if you'd like more information. Also, I will soon be adding links to this blog to sites that have candidate information easily accessible.

I would never ever tell anyone who to or who to not vote for, but I do want to encourage everyone to start familiarizing yourself with the candidates and taking advantage of one of our greatest civil liberties.

I agree with you totally from what I have read/seen about him! I am just scared he won't be able to beat Hillary. I am usually very informed and know a lot about politics and elections, but if I am honest, I have to say I have stuck me head in the sand lately b/c I am scared! I know that isn't the right thing to do. I need to get informed!

I actually think he could have a change of beating her because he is more likable and has more experience...although she is very popular right now and she is handling her campaign amazingly. I think you are right in that she'll be a tough candidate to beat. Is there anyone in the Rep. party who you think has a better chance? Sometimes all the information out there is overwhelming.

I've heard many pundits (David Brooks, Bill Clinton, Newt Gingrich) argue that he would be a tough candidate if we won the nomination. His biggest obstacle, however, is he hasn't raised enough money. Plus, his name doesn't sound presidential--President Huckabee?

I think I just never have enough faith on the people of our country. I agree that Huckabee is more likeable than Hillary. Also, she is SO far left. I don't know, as much as I don't like it, I see the country going for someone closer to center. I could be wrong though. I really did not think W would win again. I was so nervous b/c I was almost as scared of Kerry as I am of Hillary. I guess all we can do is get informed, vote and PRAY LIKE CRAZY for God's will to be done and trust that He is in control no matter who is running this country. It's just so much harder now that we have children. I worry about what world Hannah will live in all the time.

I should also add that I am very far right in a lot of my views (especially on moral views), that's why I am not a fan of some of the center Rebulicans like Giuliani, but I would rather him than Clinton, I guess.

I so understand Annie. I am very "right" on moral views too, except I am against the death penalty and that is usually seen as a liberal view. But I would rather Romney, or Guiliani, than Clinton. I think our country would be so unsafe in her hands, but Annie, you said it, we won't truly be in her hands because we're in Gods.
