The season of Pumpkins

I changed the color of my blog background last night to reflect the season (although it still does not feel like Fall here in South Carolina) I hope you like it.

I am really looking forward to this weekend. On Friday, Xylie and I have a date to see
Disney Princesses on Ice! She's been asking to go for weeks. I remember going to a Sesame Street Ice show when I was about her age. Magical memories! Xylie and I have not had an official date night in so long. I am really looking forward to the Mommy-daughter time. We'll be in the nose bleed section, but I don't think we'll care.

On Saturday, our church, Riverbluff Church, is hosting a huge Fall festival. All four of us will be attending and I've invited lots of neighbors too.

I'm also excited about Sunday and if you are a friend in the Charleston area, please consider this your invitation as well! I'm having a "Pumpkin Recipe Tasting Party!"

Everyone who attends will bring something yummy that is made with pumpkin (canned pumpkin usually works best). It can be sweet or savory. They also bring the recipe. Then, we all sit down and chow down. The fun starts at 4 pm at the Farmington Village Clubhouse. Please RSVP soon if you can make it.

The idea for the pumpkin party is not my own. It comes from Sonya Mounts. Anyone sense a "friend highlight" coming up? Sonya is a sweet friend of mine who I met in Corpus she now lives in Norfolk, Va with her husband and their two adorable kids Eli and Ava. Sonya is definitely one of my most creative friends. Once she and I made an entire dinner together for our families--the main ingredigent? Basil! All the dishes were actually wonderful with one exception...basil ice cream for dessert. Don't try that at home! In addition to her creativity, Sonya is a very warm and caring person who makes her friends feel very welcomed in her home and her presence.

Looks like a fun weekend! I wish I had bought tickets for the Princess thing now. :) We'll see you guys at the Fall Festival.
Also, I plan on being at the get together on Sunday. I will have to leave at 5, but I am looking forward to it! :) I hope you have had a great day!
