Sleep Glorious Sleep

This morning my uncoordinated self is dancing a happy gig! Zayden Penn slept through the night. I mean a solid to bed at 8:00pm awake at 8:15am sleep. No crying, fussing , moaning or groaning. After six plus months of the little dude waking up frequently throughout the night, we've finally turned a corner!

I'm sure there may be many of you out there shaking your heads and thinking "My baby started sleeping through the night at 6 weeks, or 4 months, etc." That was a luxury we experienced with Xylie. Our little Z-man, although pleasant in every other way, just was not ready to let go of those late night feedings. He was really hungry. But during the past few weeks it became apparent to me that he was no longer hungry at 2 am, he just wanted to snuggle.

Our sleeping arrangements were not helping matters. He and Xylie were sharing a room, he'd wake her up and I'd feed him immediately. And then poor Xylie was not getting enough sleep and was just miserable the next day, making me miserable....see the downward spiral? Then we tried having him sleep in our room...that was even worse. This week we went radical. We tucked Xylie into our bed at 8pm and Zayden into his crib. Then Napp and I slept on the futon. On Monday night Zayden woke up at 11 pm, 1 pm and 4 pm. I fed him at 11, left him cry himself back to sleep at 1 (fortunately he didn't cry long) and then I fed him at 4. On Tuesday night, I heard him wake up for a few minutes at 10, but he went back to sleep on his own without much fuss. Then he slept until 5am. I fed him and he went back to sleep until 9am. Last night was his first solid sleep. I so hope it is not a fluke! Yipeeee!
