Night at the Waskers

Last night Napp and I attended a fabulous Murder Mystery party with our small group from church. The Magners were fun and gracious hosts and everyone dolled up, glitzed out, and provided high drama as odd characters.

(Side note to give my friend Kim some props: I had been wanting to get my hair cut for the longest time and was able to schedule an appointment a few hours before the party which worked out great. If you live in my neck of the woods, I highly recommend my hair stylist. She's been in the business for 20 years, knew immediately which style would best fit my hair, and is very affordable.)

The amazing Annie M.

Kudos to Annie who not only was the "hostess with the mostess" but who turned a game written for tweleve characters into one for 20! She made up new characters, wrote clues and organized all the packets. You seriously could not tell which characters were created by the actual game creators and which ones Annie wrote...she's that good. All that on top of hosting the party, working part-time, mothering a two-year-old, volunteering, being a supportive wife and friend, and taking a Beth Moore Bible Study. Whoa! That's too much for my plate, but Annie did a great job. And, she looked amazing and stylish as always.

The premise of the game was that most characters were Hollywood elite attending a famous party held after an awards ceremony. Napp's character was "Rocko the Rocker." Everyone came up with such inventive costumes and looked great.

Although my character, Dalila, the STRANGE Diva never won a "Wasker" for best lead actress, my peers voted me best actress of the night for fluttering around, tossing my feather boa, talking to the walls and whisper lines such as "crack is wack." I have to say though, my friend Kathy was sensational as not-so-classy escort "Victoria." Caleb was voted Best actor for his fun performance as star obsessed "Jackson Jackson." Tina was awarded best dressed for her protrayal as a 16-year-old spoiled rocker chick/wanna-be actress. Napp played her over-protective father. A role he knows well.

Here are some more pictures of the night. I wish I had taken pictures of everyone. I am sure Annie will have some great photos on her blog later today and hopefully some others will as well. Enjoy!
Napp as "Rocker Rocko"

Cassie as a gossip columnist (I wish I had taken a picture of her husband, Dustin, he also donned a wig.)Me acting as a loon. And no, I'm not pregnant again, I just look like I am from this angle and with the shadow in the background.

Cassie and Kathy reviewing their clue packets
Jaime and me - Jaime played a loud scene-stealing up-and-coming actress
Annie (As character Marilyn, a ditzy trophy wife with a mean streak (so NOT Annie) giving us some more game clues. Small group leader Ted is in the background. Ted played a local newscaster and totally looked the part.
More lunacy from yours truly. My outfit was borrowed. The dress came from Annie's closet and the purple boa from Xylie's. Xylie, by the way, thought I was the most beautiful woman on the planet last night and loved my fake mole. She was so excited to see me get dressed up and this morning she was sad that I was no longer wearing my "movie star" dress. She said "Mommy, I am really going to miss that dress."
Rockin' father-daughter duo!
Me with some of the sweetest women you could ever meet. From L-R: Kathy, me, Jaime, and Marca. While trying to get the red eyes out of this picture I somehow gave Jaime a black eye. Sorry Jaimes. He was sooo Keith Richards"Drama Queen" Our small group co-coordinator, Karen (Ted's wife) portraying a soap opera Diva
Jaime and Caleb slip out of character to smooch
Brian F. playing a mob boss. He had a great Jersey accent (And I am so sorry for always calling him Brad.)Another great photo of Kathy in character
The great evening had come to an end
