My top 5 baby foods meet all of these criteria: they're healthy, they're easy to prepare (the first 3 take no preparation and the last 2 you can just mash with a fork), babies love them, and they are cheap (at least compared to those little jars of baby food).
- Plain, whole milk yogurt (and plain does not mean vanilla). Stonyfield Farm is particularly yummy, but hard to find. (BTW, I don't understand the "baby yogurts" that are on the market now. They have added sugar and babies love the plain stuff.)
- Cottage cheese
- Applesauce
- Bananas
- Avocados
Hmmm? Should I do a top 5 toddler finger foods next?

Sure, babe...go for it...Peas should be number 1
I would have to replace applesauce with sweet potato
Jack loves plain yogurt, applesauce, and bananas, but does not care for cottage cheese...and we've yet to try avacado. He also really loves his sweet potatoes. At this stage, we're having fun trying everything...he makes some great faces.
Goldfish crackers would certainly make the Toddler list.
This was a major staple in our house, too. We always got it at Publix, and I looked when I was there this evening, and they had it. Never didn't have it when I was buying it 2x a week for my little ones. We were also an avocado family, usually mixed with yogurt and some oatmeal for thickener. Oh, how I miss making babyfood!!!
Lemme see... we don't really eat cottage cheese, so I'd exchange that one for Ch.eerios or some other type of cracker (maybe graham?)!
PB&J would be number 1 on my toddler list! And pizza... we like to make homemade pizzas with English Muffins! Yum yum!
