The picture above was taken in 1992 a few weeks before I entered college. As someone with naturally stick-straight hair, it took me three hours to achieve this 'do that wilted a few minutes after this picture was snapped.
I was in New Orleans on a trip with my youth group and a few thousand other Missouri Synoid Lutherans (that was the church I grew up attending).
I remember setting my hair in both these heated rubber sticks and rubber hot curlers. I forget the names of the products, but not the fact that setting the curls burnt my fingers.
My main mission for the evening was to make my ex-boyfriend regret breaking up with me...oh if only my maturity could have been as big as my hair.

Ha Ha. I so remember doing things like that when I was younger. It never seemed to work though (making the boyfriend regret).
I still have a set of hot rollers.
This photo is too fun! I was a fan of the hot rollers as well. i don't think anything good came to the fashion world from the late 80's or early 90's....except a lot of hilarious pictures!
You look like Katherine Heigl in this picture!!! Very cute hair!
That is too funny "FRO me to you"!!!
You still look beautiful!!! and I am not just saying that to kiss up so I can win the mission statement contest . . unless its working~
Just Kidding!!!
But really I'm sure your ex-boyfriend totally regretted breaking up with you that night!!!

I think we all have a picture with our hair like this and somewhere along the way we have a similar story line.
Thanks for sharing!
Funny what we think we need when we really don't...great share of a cute post!
My daughter is 17 and she loves to go through the pictures of my younger days and laugh at my big permed hair and HUGE glasses.
Brat! :)
I remember those rollers, were they called "Hot Sticks", pink and purple twisty things?
I remember spending hours making my hair curly and /or big. Blow dry upside down, crimping iron, THEN hot rollers, yep, heat damage galore. You look great.
I remember those days Ang. However, I think you look great on that pix. Love, Kelly
What a great picture. My sister and I used those hot sticks all the time. I was burned a lot. But it was worth the curls, or so I thought!
LOVE IT! :) So funny! Your motives crak me up!
My 8 year old daughter would like your color hair, your curls, and just a little bit longer.
Well, I'm sure your maturity level NOW is as big as your teen hair. (And we graduated the same year.)

Who wouldn't regret breaking up with that hair? :)
LOVE it! I had hot rollers like that, too!
What an adorable picture!
What a pleasant surprise to log on to my blog and find real, actual comments from my first real post, all thanks to you! So, "Thank You!" I will do what it takes to figure out how to sign up for you blog mission tour! Take care, Julie

Oh, what memories!!! Yours was SOOOO much cuter than mine.
All of a sudden, I'm having an itch to go get a perm.
Naaaah!

Girl, you are working the hair and the tie front shirt here.
I had those rollers with the spiky things and they would burn my fingers. And the curl would fall out the minute I took the rollers out.
