A new look for my bedroom

I'm not crafty. Have you ever heard the cliche She cannot draw a straight line with a ruler? I think it was first said in the early 80's...and I'm pretty sure I was the "she." Think I'm exaggerating? I'm not.

I've tried scrapbooking, cake decorating, and sewing. I have a few completed projects, but none of them noteworthy. Still, despite of...or perhaps in spite of my lack of talent for the genre of arts and crafts...I try.

After this last move, we ended up with an old piece of plywood. Not very pretty. But I didn't see just an ugly slab of conglomerated wood chips...I saw a head board. Dr. N and I don't have a bedroom set, so our queen sized bed still sets on the metal frame. We're both fine with that. But I have been wanting to add some decorative pizazz to our bedroom.

So, I went to Lowes, bought two cans of sample paints and some supplies and got busy. I also purchased some wall stickers from Target. Although the stickers look tacky in the photos, they honestly do not in person...in fact, I think it is difficult to determine that they are stickers.

Well, it's not perfect and the lines are not straight, but I think it adds a certain charm. What do you think?

That's very pretty. What a neat idea for a "piece of plywood"!! I never would have thought of that :)

I think it adds the perfect little punch of pizazz. And you can't go wrong having that quote above the master bed.

I don't know if I believe the "can't draw a straight line with a ruler" thing. That is beautiful!! I like to scrapbook or makes cards (little things) but home decorating intimidates me.

Thanks everyone!! Oh Jane Anne, if you look closely, you'll see that the border is unintentionally wavy...yeah...I used a ruler and painters tape. I kid you not. LOL

By the way, the lines don't have to be straight. *wink* That's what makes homemade perfectly imperfect.

Well I think it turned out beautiful, and it is a very creative idea. I'm the same as far as I don't have a headboard that I found that I like, but making your on just makes it soo cozy and personal. Great job!!!
