Fun, Fun, and More Fun

With each day our new city feels more like home. Yes, it could very well be a temporary home, but why live anywhere but in the present moment. And in this moment, this Southern College town is home.

Writers are not suppose to use cliche's, but All That Naz has never been a venue to showcase my writing so I'll just go to the land of cliche's and write that the old adage that tells of home being where the heart is, well, it's true. And my heart has always belonged where love and friendship abound.

This weekend, a college friend of Dr. N's, along with her husband and their five little girls came to visit us. While I had met Tracy (pictured above) only once (at her wedding), from the instant she entered my home I felt as though I was interacting with a long-lost cousin. The X-Factor was in social heaven where the decorations are pink, pink, and pink. She and the girls played well together. Little Z-man was a bit tentative, but enjoyed himself too. I posted some pix below.

Today, we tried a new church (yep, still looking for a church home) and were struck by the genuine friendliness of the attenders. People went out of their way to welcome us... there were two couples who actually got out of their cars to greet us after the service.

Another highlight of our weekend was that X-Factor had a play date this afternoon with her new friend Peter. And this is one of those "Facebook makes the world smaller" stories. Soon after we moved here, I got a Facebook message from a fellow Houghton Alumni. Although we never met, he felt compelled to introduce himself because he is a professor at the same college as Dr. N, and he and his wife have 2 kids within the age ranges of mine. How cool is that?

Even cooler, Peter and the X-Factor became instant BFF's. First, you must know, the X-Factor has been resistant to making friends with boys. To quote her..."Boys are just...well, boys. They are loud, and silly...and...well, just not girls. Girls are way better friends than boys." SHe gets her profundity from me...just in case you were wondering.

Apparently, that statement was "so last year," because my girl has made a slew of friends who are little boys and has not complained even once.

Here are a few pix from this weekend.

When Little Girls Get Together, a Show Must Be Put On

See Z-man in the background eating alone at the little kid table? I like to call
this photo "Gender Segregation."

I love all the pictures. It looks like X-factor had a blast with all the girls. I love watching little girls interact with each other. I grew up with brothers and didn't have a lot of girl friends so it really is exciting for me to watch Pink and her cousins interact with each other. It is so different from when I was a kid.

I love the pic of Zman alone. Bless his heart. Things were probably a little calmer over at his table too!
